Running & MFL | An analogy

I do love an analogy.

Using my decades of experience as a runner to illustrate educational thinking to my tutees in a recent tuition sessions.

Here’s the thought…

We run together. Hill reps. Fartleks. There and back. Speed trials. With a bit of chatting and giving, maybe, 60%. Then a race is in sight. On the calendar. And all of these elements must be brought together, with a serious mindset, in focused training sessions, in order to position oneself in the best place for a personal best.

So, Year R to Year 9 is the light hearted training season. SPaG. Reading. Writing. Speaking. Listening. With the start of Year 10, the Home Straight begins to come into focus. It’s time to up that effort to one’s max and pull together the elements of learning to hit the ground running in the summer of Year 11. Achievable. Manageable. And hopefully, with wise guidance, largely enjoyable.
